Tarboro: A Cable making Story Rooted in Community
Just outside Tarboro, North Carolina, a long-standing tradition of wire and cable manufacturing grew from skilled labor, community pride and consistent workmanship. Generations learned how to draw, insulate and finish wire that powered buildings, mills and neighborhoods across the United States.
That story began with Anaconda Wire & Cable. The Tarboro site developed a reputation for industrial craftsmanship and quality while becoming part of daily life for local workers, families and neighbors.
The Superior Essex Era
As markets evolved and cable technologies advanced, the Tarboro facility entered its next chapter under Superior Essex. The transition kept the campus active and positioned it for expansion into energy cable manufacturing.
In 2012, Superior Essex opened its first North American energy cable manufacturing facility at the Anaconda Road campus after nearly two years of investment and expansion.
LS Cable & System USA Today
Today, the Anaconda Road campus carries forward nearly 60 years of manufacturing tradition as LS Cable & System USA. With corporate headquarters in Atlanta and its manufacturing heart in Tarboro, LSCSUSA supplies low- and medium-voltage wire and cable for C&I and utility markets across North America.
Continued investment reflects a clear priority: growing long-term manufacturing capacity in eastern North Carolina while preserving the workforce knowledge and quality culture that have defined the campus for generations.

1965 - Anaconda Comes to Tarboro
Anaconda Wire & Cable announces plans to build a manufacturing plant in Tarboro, establishing a new industrial presence at the Anaconda Road campus.

2008 - Connected to LS Cable & System
LS Cable & System becomes the parent company of Superior Essex, connecting the Tarboro operation to a global cable manufacturer.

2012 - Energy Cable Expansion Opens
Superior Essex announced the grand opening of its first North American energy cable manufacturing facility at the Anaconda Road campus.

2017 - A New LSCSUSA Chapter
LS Group acquires the Energy Division of Superior Essex, creating a subsidiary under the LS Cable & System umbrella.

2022 - Investing in Tarboro
LS Cable & System announces a $26.9 million investment to expand the facility and workforce over three years.

2026 and Beyond
LS Corporate begins an additional $100 million commitment designed to effectively double LSCSUSA’s rated capacity at the Tarboro campus.

Lucky Goldstar to World Leader
LS Cable & System traces its origins to 1962 in South Korea, when it was founded as Korea Cable Industry. The business later operated through the Lucky Goldstar and LG Cable eras before becoming LS Cable & System, an independent company focused on wire, cable and power infrastructure.
Today, LS Cable & System operates across Asia, Europe and the Americas. Through LS Cable & System USA, that global experience supports local manufacturing, technical expertise and continued investment in North American infrastructure.
